I am Anja Lerz, born in 1977. Magistra Artium in English Literature, Scandinavian Literature and German Literature. I am member of the German Association of Literary Translators (Verband deutschsprachiger Übersetzer literarischer und wissenschaftlicher Werke e.V., VdÜ) and of the German Network of Women in Publishing (Bücherfrauen e.V.). I live in Duisburg, Germany.
I studied at the University of Tübingen. I also spent a year as a visiting student at the University of Reading, England, and half a year on a full scholarship awarded by the Swedish Institute in the beautiful north of Sweden (Hållands folkhögskola / now: Åredalens folkhögskola).
I started at Joh. Brendow & Sohn Verlag GmbH in Moers in 2005 (the year of the first Narnia movie; Brendow held the paperback rights).
I worked there as literary editor and in-house translator until 2018, gaining and honing expertise in publishing from the spark of an idea to marketing the finished book as well as in international licensing (both selling and buying), working with authors like Adrian Plass and Nadia Bolz-Weber.
